I plan to start learning soon. I've learnt the orthography and I've learnt a few stock phrases like 'dia duit trathnona' and things like that. How long have you been studying?

about a year, maybe alittle longer... started out with welsh, moved on to Irish... I can write better than speak, it's a bitch of a lanuage. the double consonant sounds are hard to get used to and I'm still off with the grammar, but i'm trying. I actually used rosetastone software for welsh, and it really worked awesome. I was conversational within 2 weeks.
