A man was meditating once near a babbling brook. The noise began to irritate the man and he asked the brook to cease babbling. The brook complied and grew silent. The man went once again to meditating, saying the universal sound of creation, Om. He slowly said this as he sat next to the now quiet brook. Soon enough the crickets began to chirp incessantly. The man grew irritated and asked the crickets to cease chirping. The crickets agreed to and ceased to chirp. The man resumed meditating. Soon enough the birds around him began to chirp and sing. The man grew frustrated and shouted,
Dont you know that I am meditating? Why do you interrupt me? I am saying Om, the universal sound of creation!
All was silent for a short while. The man went back to meditating. Soon enough the brook began to babble, the crickets began to chirp, and the birds began to sing again. The brook finally spoke to the man.
And dont you know that we are saying it with you?

I'm guessing this is from Buddhism?
