A Short History of My Weekend at SEANET
we drove down to charleston fri evening too late for the actual meetings fri, but we went to South of the Border on the way and had some fun.
alot of kids went. From raleigh in the chamberlain house/collective it was me, brad, meghan, eric, andrew, andrea, catylan, wes, leslie, atilla, tord, lauren, james, and a few others. There were about 150 people there altogether
Saturday there was an intro of every person and where from and what projects they're in, then we broke off into passion groups. I went to one on Direct Action, and another on the history of the Civil Rights movement and anecdotes from one of MLK's friends. After that me and leslie and tord went to the charleston FNB house and helped cook and prepare food, then we had dinner and I cleaned dishes. after that there was another passion group hosted by Brad on hacktivism and electronic piracy
Later That Night! there was a hardcore show featuring Reqiem on the beach, but i walked around collecting sand dollars instead. Sunday we got up early, went to a passion group about our arch rival group "Transcend", which is very marxist, and another on networking. then we helped clean up the commmunity space and the FNB house, and packed up and left.
Transcend isn't our rivals. It's a very small group of confused marxists who call themselves anarchists and envision all the different radical factions uniting under one flag of solidarity. That flag being the Transcend flag by the way. They're nice enough, but every thing they say sounds exactly like marxism, or one of the Radical Communist Parties doctrine. It's not a bad thing, but it certainly isn't Anarchist.
But SEANET was awesome, we certainly got alot of networking done. I'm helping start a hacktivism zine soon, and we're getting to know alot of the radical groups all over the south. Can't wait another nine months for the 3rd SEANET to see all of our newfound friends again.
Tommorow i'm getting my Solidarity Forever tattoo, dunno where tho. Decisions? (your input). Collarbones, on my neck, or on my forearms?
