In the wake of today's violence, I am thinking of my British friends: My beloved @Jessaskittles, @Lilymai, @Jezzied, @ Tripodski - That barbarity is, now commonplace, is the most appalling feature of these attacks. May we never get used to this!
I feel for you all. You have been injured, whether physically or not. As your cousin, from the Colonies, I would remind you that we got our tradition of law, & all our most cherished values directly from England. We are injured too. As I think of you, that majestic tune, almost a second national anthem to you, which we Yanks know, only as "Graduation music, has been ringing in my ears.
"Land of hope and glory. Mother of the free. How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still, and wider may thy bounds be set. God, who made thee mighty, make thee
mightier yet!
