I just finished watching Puerto Rico beat the U.S.A. 6-5, in an epic battle! I congratulate them! And I am happy to say, the Americans won! Yes, every Puerto Rican is a native born citizen of the United States. They carry American passports. (That's why other Americans don't need one, when we go there) They have served in our military, for every U.S. war since W.W.I. Yet, we treat them like foreigners. Because Puerto Rico is a territory, they cannot vote. They had no voice in Emperor Caligula Trump becoming their official President! (After he finishes the Mexican wall, he's going to take the left over bricks, & build them a big barbecue pit.)
When I think of people like, my beloved @Kiket, @Mars, @Jackiewicked, & others of Puerto Rican heritage, who have contributed so much to us, & have brought "SABOR" to our national life, I am ashamed, they've been denied full citizenship for 119 years! Not long ago, my beloved N.Y. Yankees retired number 51. Former centerfielder, Bernie Williams wore it, because he was born in Puerto Rico, & wanted to remind people of the movement to make Puerto Rico the 51st State, in the union.
Of the many things the U.S. has to be ashamed of, right now, one of the worst is the level of xenophobia we allow to flourish in our midst. Even when people want to sing the praises of the U.S.A. in another language, we rail against them, for not speaking English! Is it just me, or does anybody else think, that's ape shit cra-cra? Meanwhile Latinos are saving our Country for us. I am delighted to say, the State where I live (N.M.) is one of an ever growing number in which white people are no longer the majority. The Hispanic influx is happening, whether we cooperate or not. These people bring with them a culture of love & loyalty, honesty, & an incredible commitment to hard work. AND, they may make baseball our most popular sport again! Let's do what we should've done at the dawn of the 20th century, not 1/5 of the way into the 21st. Let's make Puerto Rico our 51st State, & Spanish, our second official language!
