The older I get, the more I realize that interacting with other people is an extremely difficult and often frustrating experience.
Case in point #1: There's a woman that I'm sort of interested in right now. We met through friends about a month ago. She's single and I'm single. As far as I'm concerned, she's sending pretty clear signals. Things like posting "I need a lover" on Facebook and then saying "Is that a hint, Jace?" when I respond, talking about sex toys, watching porn with me (and a few other people, too), and letting me play with her hair. Upon playing with her hair she even invited me pull it, which I did (hard). She said, "Hmm, not bad." Stuff like that. So today I get a text from her saying, "We should talk. Clear the air on some things." If she's not into me that's perfectly fine, but I feel like with the kinds of signals she's sending, that's pretty shitty. I certainly don't do things like that around someone unless I'm interested in them and available.
Case in point #2: There's another woman who I went on a date with recently, who I think is blowing me off now. The first date went really well. We seemed to click, we had lots in common, we spent like 5 hours with each other, etc. The possibility of a second date was never in question. I ask her what her plans are over the weekend, and she says she's busy on a few of the days. Family stuff. We agree to hang out on Sunday. Then she says she might be busy on Sunday. Then she updates her Facebook and basically says she just went on a date when she was supposedly doing that family stuff. So now I think she's not telling the truth and avoiding me. I don't mind if she's busy and I don't even mind if she's dating other guys, but I don't like being strung along. Obviously I don't know if that's the case yet, but I think it might be. And that sucks.
