Tomorrow I board a train filled with 100+ people headed for the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle. Currently slated for the train trip are:
A Rock Band tournament.
Munchkin.
D&D.
Zombie Fluxx.
Castle Crashers.
Geometry Wars.
A movie night (probably Hot Fuzz or Tropic Thunder).
Yes, we bring TVs and 360s on the train. Yes, we bring along the equipment to get working Internet on the moving train. Yes, we take over several train cars. West Coast Train Trip 2009, baby.
And then I get to Seattle, where I'm participating in the Third Annual Triwizard Drinking Tournament, a Harry Potter themed bar crawl. Do I care about Harry Potter? Not really. Do I like hanging out with nerds and drinking? Yes I do.
Then the next day, the actual expo starts. Endless amounts of video games, board games, card games, drinking, partying, hanging out, and more, for three glorious days. I can't begin to describe how awesome PAX is on every level. 2 entire floors dedicated just to tabletop gaming. Dozens of rooms with nothing but giant televisions and consoles, that you can just play on. With anyone. Whatever game you want. Concerts, panels, contests, swag, and games as far as the eye can see.
Then once the expo is over on Sunday, I'm hosting the Post-PAX Party Dinner at a swanky bar/grill in Seattle (The Taphouse). 160 beers on tap, 2 120" projection screens with XBoxes and Wiis attached, delicious food, games, and more partying with awesome people.
I've been waiting for this since April. PAX! PAX! PAX!
