Well, I just put ten hours in at the auto parts emporium. And what was the main topic today? All day we were regaled with stories of wonder and amazement centered around the honeymoon trip of one of the owner's to Vegas last week. I'm still awstruck. And I'll be damned, I get to do it all again tomorrow. Am I lucky, or what? Shit.
Ya know what I miss? I miss goin' out on the mountain on the weekends to party. Drinkin' a brew under a clear sky, around a campfire with no one around but a few friends, dancin' around and singin' to the radio...God, we didn't know how good we had it. And then emerging from the bush around 3 or 4am and headin' to "The Coney" for a couple of gut-bombs and cheese fries. Just sayin' the names we had for party spots evokes a flood of memories: the knoll, the eighty-eight, the claybanks, dick's, the bass dams, the cabin, the slush dams and Blackwood. All of them accessible to one another though a series of dirt roads, pole lines and washouts...the tires only touched macadam long enough to cross a two lane road. We called ourselves F.E.A 4X4, Inc.(F.E.A.=Fuck 'Em All) I wish we didn't have to grow up.(What am I sayin', I was 25-6-7 yrs old then.)
It all came to a screeching halt on April 18, 1999. Here's the abbreviated version:
Party at the cabin. Unwelcome strangers invade the party. One stranger picks a fight. A scuffle ensues. The stranger is "detained".(Hence the moniker, duct tape mafia.) The strangers are sent away. Enter the State Police...statements are given...a hearing is held...jail...probation. All over a drugged up wacko that started the whole thing in the first place. Hence my lack of trust in our justice system, in particular my distrust of the police in genreral. I hope this doesn't taint your view of me. I really believe I(as well as my friends) are good people that were just at the wrong place at a very wrong time.
Needless to say, F.E.A. 4X4, Inc. never left the macadam again. Pretty much, all of us just keep our heads down, keep to ourselves and work. A lot. So much that we rarely even see each other, let alone get together and shoot the shit. I hope to change that one day.
And there you have it folks, a look into the true self of Jabroni544. Take it for what it's worth.
