I went to see a new band tonight at the bar up the street from the auto parts emporium, Memory Lane. Well, I shouldn't say new, exactly. Even though they go by "Combustible Dust" now, I know them from their previous incarnation called "5 o'clock shadow".
"What has changed?" you may ask.
Not the singer. The band is still fronted by a real cool dude I met while he worked in his Pop's garage. TJ has the perfect voice for their southern and classic rock repertoire...kinda Fogerty/Mellencamp rasp.
Not the lead guitar guy. Frank still lays down a searing axe solo with the best of them.
Not the bass man. The oldest of the bunch still keeps it steady and true.
So it must be the drummer, right? Right as rain. They replaced their butthead know-it-all blowhard with a scorchin' hot goddess of thunder.(I love a chick in camo's.)
The show was really good. Like I said, they play primarily southern and classic rock, but not the normal run of the mill stuff all cover bands play, which breathes some fresh air into some old tunes like Segar's Turn the Page, Skynyrd's Simple Man(done with a distinctively different up tempo), The Allman's Midnight Rider and Blackfoot's Train, Train to name but a few. I really enjoyed it, and hope to see alot more of Combustible Dust.
ROCK ON!!!

Cat and I headed up to my parents' mountain house for a few days. She's never been there, and we both needed to get away. I have the usual stress, and her grandmother passed away on Sunday (she basically raised her, so it hit pretty hard). While it can make one bored sometimes(lack of other people like me and such), I do so much enjoy the slower pace of the mountains. Taking forever to wake up, sitting by the fire in pjs, eventually making your way to lunch and such...good times. She's never been on 4-wheelers, so I took her out.
Funeral was yesterday, so that's why I haven't really been on lately.
Enough about me...how goes it, sir?
