Ok I know what you are going to be thinking.... OH MY GOD SHE IS DOING A REAL UPDATE! And it is true. I am feeling a bit shocked myself! Did we have a beautiful weekend or what??? We could not have asked for more beautiful weather! And what better to do on a beautiful weekend then to subject yourself to 53 degrees water at 65 feet below sea level so you can check out a bunch of pretty fishies. Now I know that a lot of you can't experience what I did this weekend so I thought I would share them here.... Meet Ray. Ray is a very handsome Sting Ray that has settled himself off the coast of Catalina. in his free time he likes to swim around and taunt little fishies. I just so happened to catch him during nap time where he was leisurely relaxing at the bottom of the ocean. (Thank you Ray!)
Now we are going to come across Mr. Garibaldi.
Mr. Garibaldi is a beautiful gold colored fish. He just so happens to be single! In case any of your fishy friends are in search of a mate. He resides off the cost of Catalina Island as well. He posed for this picture in a way that you would really be able to capture his beautiful eyes!. (no really.... there are Garibaldi fish all over the place and they really add color to a west coast dive!
Now we come across the Neon family...
These beautiful tiny fish just hang out in little holes in the coral and unless you like to look in dark holes you just might not see them but if you find them boy are they beautiful!!
Now I am going to share with you grumpy grandpa!
I don't have too much to say about him other than the coolest thing ever was that we were down under water and feeding the fish the customary frozen peas and about 200 of these fish were swarming us and nipping at my friends gloves trying to get at the food. I had taken some other pictures trying to capture that feeling but they didn't come up... but just picture 200 of these mean looking guys coming at you. It was pretty amazing!!
How many of you knew that you could swim deep into the water off of Catalina island and come across the Jacques-Yves Cousteau memorial at the bottom of the ocean? Well... I found it and here it is!
I know the picture is not great but it was still pretty cool to find!
And last but not least for those of you feeling a bit crabby this one is for you!
Meet Mr. Crabby. Now what is the first thing you think when you see this? Dinner perhaps? What I saw was how beautiful he was in his home environment! His body matched the rocks. If it werent for his legs I probably wouldn't have even seen him.
It as a fun day of diving and a beautiful day in Catalina. And if you have never done it all I can say is .... What are you waiting for??
OK now... Shawndaddy Consider my journal UPDATED!!!!!!!
Take care all!!! And have an awesome week!
