It's true, no overtime for me this past weekend.
Friday I took a trip to Newbury Comics for a few new books, then ate Wendy's for lunch with HathOriginal. After that I napped for a little while before going to a gallery opening for 2 of my best friends. Here is a pic of some of the people hanging around outside of the Mingo Gallery in Beverly during the opening
The opening went very well, and I was very impressed with the Illustrations and paintings on display. Quite a few people were wondering if there was something going on after the opening; so Me, Hathoriginal and Skinneephat invited everyone back to our house for drinks and snacks (read drinks and snacks as whiskey and ten pizzas). We mostly sat around the little firepit in the yard and had some rather colorful conversations until we were tired enough to crash.
Saturday we went to a cookout at another friend's house; attended by almost everyone who had been at our place the night before, plus quite a few more people. The day was excellent despite the fact that I took a fast moving horseshoe off of the knee while playing in the yard.
When the sun went down everyone who was left at the cookout sat around a firepit and three guys who brought their guitars entertained us. It was one of those moments that belongs in a beer commercial, but we had a lot of fun.
And even though the light filter on my camera was on the wrong setting, I like this picture I took of me and Jenny:
Today was a nice day to relax before work again, though I am looking forward to using my vacation time in a couple of weeks. And later on this week I will be taking Jenny and her friend Adam to my favorite local museum, so everything is kinda nice right now.
Here are a few entertaining pics. The first is of 2 of our cats, Scurry and Fidget, agreeing to share the same space for a while.
This one is of a little visitor on our porch the other day...
Cookout Plans
Sometime in August we are going to try and have a real big cookout for all of our old and new friends. And lately I have been sketching out what I plan to be cooking. So tell me if this sounds okay to you (I will be using a large grill, electric griddle and 2 deep fryers at the same time):
-3 batches of my own Chilli; 1 spicy with no beans, 1 with beans and a bit milder and another batch with some spice and more peppers and onions to serve as a good burger/hotdog topper.
-Hotdogs that have been marinated in applejuice and brown sugar for a day or so.
-Burgers made with teriyaki sauce and some onion soup mix in the meat.
-Grilled asparagus in some type of marinade
-French fries;some of the normal variety and some sweet potato fries...all handcut.
-Empinadas made with ground turkey, sofrito, serzone, cheese and a few other extras.
We are asking guests to bring salads, chips and cold foods. We will also have a keg.
How does that sound to you? Any suggestions?
Besides all that, how have you all been doing?
Man, your barbecue menu sounds great.
What the hell are you waiting for? I'll start making burgers now!
