Knee Surgery on Monday
A man develops unexpected bonds with his pain. I first observed this in my grandfather, when his arthritis was setting in and we were still busy building a house. He adopted the ache in his joints, accomodated it to some extent, and it soon became just another indicator that things were going according to plan. I like to imagine that he...

...and Happy New Year to you as well. I'm going to read back in your journal to see if you had mentioned how you have injured your knee.

Oh, I was climbing. I torqued it.
Do you read slashdot?
This is totally awesome.

For some strange reason, that really excited me. It looks so fun!
No wonder they call it “Taxachusetts.” The MA tax collectors are completely retarded. A friend at work got a notice from them, claiming he owes them $1500 in taxes ($900 plus interest) for 2001. That's interesting, because he was an MIT student, and MIT deducted $1100 from his paychecks that year, as reflected on his W-2 form. He submitted a tax return and got his...

Ok, this is gonna sound weird, but I'm sitting here having my first beer in months! I threw this huge party in late September, and overbought on the booze, so I've been drinking vodka and rum almost exclusively ever since.
I ran out yesterday. And now I'm working my way through week-old leftovers and my second bottle of Killian's. It's like discovering beer for the...

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
Cool links of the day:
1. CookingForEngineers. One of the best uses for HTML tables. Evvver.
2. Folding T-shrets. This changes everything.
I wonder what today's sets will look like...
Do we get vegan girls? Strict carnivores? One devouring the other?

Hey, everyone. I've been pretty lame about my online presence, bu that's about to change. Via Culpa.
I've moved. Mainly out of school and into a job, but also from Boston to the greater DC area. Work is not easy, and is awesome. Is, hayusae, intellectually stimulating. Anyway, it's anything but boring and everyone is great. But that whole thing, "if you find a job...

Also, Heyoka,
Re: your rice problem, you could go to a surplus store and get a full ensemble of biohazard gear, suit and mask and tongs and all. Then just Vader down to the kitchen, extract the sample from the oven, Vader on back to your desk.
I bet it would work. As long as it doesn't get you fired.

Hey, welcome to the area and stuff.
Imagine that I said something really pithy and relevant after that.

I am holding in my hand what is known, and labeled as, a thesis receipt. Yep, I'm a master. More to the point, I'm out of here.
I predict the next week will be a long debauchery of drinking and other pleasures of the flesh.

I like your website...did you make it yourself?

congrats!!
Made it out to Billings, Montana. The campground even has wireless, so I can blog this from my tent. What a country!

It was a clover for good luck.
I hope your trip is going well.
The ones with no destination
sometimes turn out to be
the best kind of adventures,
I've never been to Montana.
Oh, and Hi

OK,
I'm heading out West in 15 minutes. Not sure where or how far, but at least Montana. I'll try to keep in touch.

What I did on the night of July 4th was stay sober. Although that would have been difficult to determine from my actions, which started by getting into a 20-year-old zodiac and taking it out to the middle of the Charles, right up to the fireworks safety line.
Scott found the zodiac and another inflatable boat and it was determined that they didn't leak too...

Got your app to SG Motorcycles. Please post in MY journal a little bit about what you ride, where, how long you've been riding, etc. If you don't currently ride, say something about why you should be a member of SGMC anyway. Anything to let me know you're for real will do. If you know a current SGMC member, have him/her leave me a note in my journal.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Winston runs once again! That's my motorcycle. It came with that name, so don't ask me what it means. It's a Suzuki Savage, and the previous owner was convinced that Winston Savage sounded cool, in that Hunter S. Thompson sort of way.
However, Winston is quite old (1986) and the damn auto-decompression keeps getting thrown off for no reason, providing for an hour of bike-fixing...

Ok, so it needs a lot of editing, but at least that is-it-ever-gonna-reach-the-required-length-and-whom-do-I-shoot-first-if-it-doesn't feeling is gone. But I wouldn't call it a thesis just yet, and it looks like a looooong weekend for me, and by that, of course, I mean lots of laboring over a stupid, stupid piece of paper, while my friends are getting trashed.
On the upside, I managed to...
