Finally starting to feel better! I've been down sick with a bad cold, but still trying to get all of my Christmas orders filled. I just can't wait to have a few days to sit on the couch, have some drinks, play video games and catch up on some movies. I've started watching the Walking Dead, I'm a few episodes in and I'm finding myself sadly disappointed. I'm interested in the storyline and where they're taking it, but I have no emotional attachment to the characters, so I'm somewhat indifferent to what happens to them. Too bad.

Rust is an amazing thing. The visual of it is a wonderful manifestation of complexity and fractal geometry. Follow the edges and you can see the shapes of clouds or the shore lines of continents. And the whole chemical process of oxidization is absolutely fascinating in that it is responsible for so much of the decay we see around and even plays a role in our aging process. But nowhere is it quite as beautifully rendered as with metals - especially iron and copper.

I agree about The Walking Dead. I had such high hopes for it and somehow they missed the mark. I can't quite put my finger on it but there is definitely a lack of emotional buy-in so - like you said - it's hard to care about what happens to the characters.
