I was walking down to the subway sometime last week and I saw something that made me smile.
While the influx of people scrambled down the escalators, in front of me was an older mexican woman in her late 40s. Her white sneakers were dirty, her purse was hanging lazily on one side, and she was slightly disheveled. She was walking at a brisk pace so as to not miss the train.
Under her left arm she was carrying two pizzas. I got the warmest picture of her coming home to her family with dinner in hand, home at last.
I remember being excited when my mom would come home and surprise us with something as small as pizza. Despite the fact that she was always working, she would find the time and it would make me so happy. Mothers are pretty amazing.
