Welcome to Suicidegirls! This is indeed a great place to meet people, as well as just piss away insane mounts of time. As far as meeting people, just start reading peoples journals (I still refuse to call them blogs) and leaving them a comment. Eventually you're likely to get to know them pretty good and realize that you've made a friend, and sooner than you probably thought. Or, come to a local event like the Tuesday Drinks that SGIE has every second tuesday (like it looks like you're lookin to attend (which you totally should. They're always tons of fun)).
