addendum to yesterday's rant.
you know, i just realized that the most genderfree community i was ever apart from was almost entirely peopled with gay men. it was when i was in college, in my dance department. all the guys were SO protective of me once they figured out i was straight. they found out that i had quite a history of dating psychos, so they flocked around me like "bitches back off - you fuck with our little boy and we gon' cut you!" believe it or not it was really sweet.
seriously, it was a really non-judgemental community. go dancers.
