What am I doing here?

I must have asked myself this question at least a hundred times today.

I try to find an answer as I stare out at the endless fields of frosted grass or former crops, I suppose.
What's the difference if you don't grow them?
The hood of the car is cold under me. Almost as if I'm freezing to the steel. This makes it hard to concentrate. The voices coming from the vehicle don't help. I know the sound of disagreement anywhere. Finishing my cigarette, I wonder if I shouldn't throw it in the gas tank to shut them up.

Lucky for them, I don't have the heart.
