the wee house people still haven't called us back, really, to tell us whether or not we get it. to be fair, they did call us, but my phone was on vibrate so i didn't hear it and they just left a message asking if we still want it (isn't that the point of giving them a "hold our place in line" deposit?) it's past the 2-day deadline to get the holding deposit back, but, we still get it back if our applications are denied or someone in front of us in line gets it instead. we just can't back out if end up getting it. which is fine by me.
however things between the three of us here have deteriotated fast. my roommate initially took it so well that i really did think this would be able to save our friendship, and i was so relieved.. but, the way she's handling it now
is just .. ugh.
apparently her mother told her that she has a legal right to 60 days' notice from us before we move out, so, she's using that unsubstantiated claim as a way to say she might or might not take two months to move out and thus might make us pay another month's rent here. and either way, without a definate date, it takes away our ability to look for new tenants and without tenants we have to pay additional rent. we looked it up, and i asked a lawyer friend of mine, and i can say with decent certainty that there is no such law. in fact, it would have been perfectly legal for us to behind her back find new roommates for her, have the names on the lease changed, and then just move without telling her anything at all. and we thought that finding new roommates was what she was going to do anyway. it's easier and cheaper. i wonder if she even told her parents that she has the option of staying here and getting new roommates - she keeps saying things to us about how we're kicking her out, which is not the case. either way though, we figured a month would be more than enough time for her to find new roommates or find a new apartment, even though it's screwing us financially to give her that time. i'm sure her mom had good intentions, but, the fact is that there are no laws dictating notice that needs to be given from one roommate to another. only the actual landlord needs to give notice if they are evicting a tenant before a lease is up. even so, if she decides she needs until december then we'll probably give her that too and then neither i nor antimony will have a single cent to our names for two months. she just doesn't seem to realize that we're trying to make this as easy as possible for her. she acts like we're sitting here trying to fuck her over and that actually really fucking hurts my feelings, considering everything we're doing to try and not screw her. if you want to stay friends with someone, you don't screw them, y'know?
i could barely sleep last night, she woke me up early this morning, and i nearly started crying during my metals class. my teacher pulled me aside after class and asked if i was okay - she thought i was upset with something she'd done or said in class. all i could tell her was that i'm having problems at home, but i didn't give her any details since my roommate is in her other class. i wonder if she thinks my father beats me or something.
hey - i'm sorry guys. this is the only place i feel even somewhat comfortable talking about these matters, because both she and i have mostly mutual friends in real life and on livejournal who i don't want to put in the middle. i'm using this space to vent to people who will never meet her and who most likely don't even really care about the situation or even read my posts about it. so - to the vast majority of you who are tired of my boring posts recently, i apologize. i'll stop soon.

As much as I tried to keep the peace. After they were gone I couldn't care less about em.
You just do whatever you have to to get a warm cozy place you can call home.
