one of my better-known quirks is that i cannot resist animals that have birth defects. i must have them. my first ever kitty that i got when i was twelve was born missing most of his left front paw and foreleg, and i begged my parents to let me have him because of it. this is a deep-set love i have for freaks of nature. i would gladly adopt a cat born with no legs or eyes or tail or a head and that all it had was a torso and a neckhole that you had to stuff food down. seriously. i would find a way to pay the vet bills for any special-needs animal that came my way.
in that regard, i adopted a kitty today. she's got a nubby tail, where it looks like the bones fused together in utero instead of stretching out. it just sorta ends, abruptly like it was chopped off, and is kinked and about half as long but twice as thick as a normal tail. not the most extreme defect by any means, but, enough to make me squee with delight.
her name is amelia (after the name of the shelter she came from) nubbins. amelia nubbins. photos to follow.

Anyway, is their any chance in hell that you guys could make it up here for my birthday party on August 19th? Because, you know, you totally should. You could crash. I know you probably can't, but I figured it was worth a begging.
Also...could I come hang/spend the night on my way back down to Virginia on August 22nd? Thought I'd actually ask ahead of time this time...
See you guys soon I hope, at one or the other!
