I've almost finished studying intellectual property (though i am from Australia, so our laws are different in some respects), but I'm fairly sure it's universal that you can't protect a design under patent law. Patenting protects inventions only. If you want to protect your design, you can either register it as a design under the appropriate legislation in your jurisdiction or rely on copyright as an artistic work (assuming you're not planning on using the design in mass production). Under the Berne Convention, to which both the US and Australia are signatories, copyright need not be registered but subsists on original creation.

Also, the companies logo and name are protected by trade mark legislation, not patenting. Use of the trade mark on a ring may or may not be an infringement- it depends on the legislation in your jurisdiction. I'm mostly unfamiliar with American law, but most Acts of Parliament are available online.
