sooo many people in america think we're the best country in the world. and yes, we're up there. i do not think we're "the best" by any means; however, i don't think there is one singular "the best" country, and regardless, our country affords us freedoms that we take for granted and which other places don't have and blah blah anyway. but even if we -are- actually "the best" -- we are NOT perfect. we have so many problems in this country, so many of which are beyond help at this point, that it's not even funny.
and here is what i don't understand about this country: it's the mentality of the masses that "oh, we're the best, so we don't need to change anything." fuck that. why are so many people so willing to settle for and even defend mediocrity? i don't hate this damn country, and that's why i'm willing to fight against some of the things that happen here -- because i want to see it get better. recognize problems and seek to improve, or be cocky fix nothing and be stagnant. why can't people understand that? WHY IS MEDRIOCRITY SO FREAKIN COOL NOW?
it's hard to realize your own mediocrity. it's so much easier to convince yourself (or allow yourself to be convinced) that you're not. and then you overestimate your potential and when crunch time comes, you let everyone else down. ain't that so, mr bush? fuck it.

I'm with you about fighting for what I believe in, rather than saying this country is going to hell and let's move somewhere better. I never understood that logic. it's not like we'vehit the bottom of the barrel. besides if we all leave then there's no hope of this country getting better.
just my thought
The Germans are still thought of as aggressive, and their whole thing was way longer ago. I mean, how many people do you think wouldnt recognize this?
The same goes for the 60s kids sticking flowers down gun barrels. How many people havent seen pictures of hippie kids burning a flag. The Chicago riots. Even the bad history books have them.
Or maybe not.
Who knows, maybe its just one of those things.
Either way, I can only HOPE that I am on to something with the coming change theory. *crosses fingers*
