Well alright, alright , alright! Let the movie blitz begin! Starting with Sipderman 3 last weekend, the list of upcoming flicks that I want, no NEED, to see doesn't really begin to dwindle untl after Transformers hits in July. And the one flick I'm REALLY excited to see, Fantastic Four: Rise of the SIlver Surfer, is nicely right smack dab in the middle of it all. I've always been a bigger Fantastic Four fan than Spiderman, and of course only one of those two has Jessica Alba (insert drooling here) in it.
But as for the Web Head's latest cinematic foray, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Sam Raimi is one of my most favorite directors anyway (Yay Evil Dead!) so expectations were already set for an enjoyable experience. And I LOVED Stan Lee's cameo, I think it was the cameo I was waiting to see from a Marvel flick, it just hit that old fanboy part of the heart and made it go all swelling up and stuff with nostalgia and joy. And the fact that Sandman practically stole that movie and became the top villain of the film hands down just made my day. I mean I'm a fan of Venom (really who isn't?) but I was impressed that his role seemed to take a back seat to Sandman's role. So great flick, two thumbs up and all that good stuff. But Spiderman 2 remains my fave, can't help but love Doc Ock. Oh and as an after note, if I ever see that group of prepubescent movie destroying assholes that were sitting behind us ever again I'll kill every one of them.
World War Hulk has begun! The little mini event I was waiting for finally got its first two installments on shelves last week, and they were both good setup for what's to come. Along witht hat came new issues of Green Lantern and Astonishing X-Men, both of which I picked up with gusto. Though Latern seems to be kinda rough lately I'll keep picking it up because i have faith in the character and the writer, plus I just love the book, short comings and all. Astonishing though was another breathless run to the last page. I think every issue competes with the one before it to be more in your face awesome, and so far its worked. Also picked up Hellboy: Darkness Calls, since I love the character and anything with him in it makes me happy. Issue one was a good set up and restart point since The Island ended. And I've got an order coming in soon that has the first two Preacher trades (never read it but always wanted to), the Watchmen trade (hadn't heard of it untilt he last year or so and was told to get it), Green Lantern: Rebirth (never got the comics so I figured it was TPB time), and a bunch of back issues of series I was following that I can't find at any of my three regular comic shops.
I remember Chuck E. Cheese's being a lot cooler when I was a kid, but it was still nice to go yesterday with the kiddo for his birthday. Hard to believe he's four already! He had a blast, running back and forth playing every game at least once (most twice). And of course all the stuff he got helped to add to his glee. I held off getting him stuff because I wanted to know what all he got and what he might need/want. Clothes it is! Lame gift I know, but eh every kid knows their parents are lame.
