Last night was...interesting. I went up to Providence to hangout with the girlfriend before 80s Night. I had my first dish of chicken curry. It was ok. Not my thing, but not bad. Then we watched Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, and her cats watched us have sex on the couch during the movie
...I mean, we were totally engrossed in the movie; there was no sex on the couch. Secrets and lies!!!
. Actually, I did like the first Harry Potter a little better, but this one was pretty good too... 80s Night was ok; there have been better ones and there have been worse ones. Not a lot of sororiety whores or drunk kids this week, but there were a few frat boy-types trying to run their weakass game or whatever they do. My only complaint about the people was the fact that my toes got crushed twice by girls in heels. Chucks don't offer good toe protection
. Maybe I'll go with the boots next week, and spike my hair Billy Idol-style; its sooo long...I need a haircut. But I digress. The music was ok. They were playing Pat Benetar
. I may be blasphamous for saying this but I think she kinda sucks. And there were a lot of the standards The Promise, Boys And Girls by Blur, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Whip It, etc.
Fortunately, the only shitty hair band they played was Bon Jovi, but I hate Bon Jovi immensely. There wasn't any real variety, it seems like they play the same tired songs week after week. I requested "Smash It Up" by the Damned to keep the shit real, to weed out the infidels, 'cause for some reason, that song clears the dance floor, except for the punks and the veteran 80s Nighters (which I'm not quite yet, but I am friends with most who are). The DJ said he had it and he would play it, and the night goes on and he's playing more and more of the standards, so I ask him again, and he's like, "I don't have it; I guess I forgot to bring it." BASTARD!!!
But they played Boys Don't Cry, which I haven't heard in a while
, but no Smiths this week
. Maybe the other DJ will be back next week, the one who doesn't suck. Anyway, Today was kinda a mixed bag. I left Prov. at 8:55am which gives me plenty of time to get to URI, and I'm doing pretty well on time until I'm like a quarter-mile away from school, and the traffic is stopped. I guess there was an accident, but I actually made it to my Sociology class on time, and I'm glad I went (I haven't gone since the 7th, but I only missed 2 classes last week) 'cause we have an exam on Monday
and that sucks. And then I go to do my reading assignment for English 'cause she was gonna give us a quiz, and my book starts on page 36. There are no pages before that. They weren't ripped out, they were never printed, they don't exist. Fortunately, my professor forgot her notes and said we could leave 10 minutes into class; no quiz till Friday
. So, to kill time before my next class I bought some more CDs at Richie's. I got Koufax's Social Life and the Beatles' Let It Be...Naked, which is quite good so far, you can hear subtle differences in some songs and some you can really hear the difference. And I got two more Dum Dum lollipops...anyone want to share?
