Update time: I moved this past weekend and I figured it's about time to post in ye olde blog. If you have read any of my previous postings on here you know that my apartment was robbed back in July of 2007. I never got any of my things back, which really sucks. Things had begun to get worse and worse. I talked with a bunch of my friends about all that is going on and how unhappy I was. Everyone told me just about the same thing, to "Move the hell out". I knew that moving out before your lease is up can cost a substantial amount of money.
CHATHAM HARBOR APARTMENTS ARE NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!! OR YOUR MONEY. You seriously need to read my whole post before pursuing them. I made the mistake of signing a lease and it would be such a shame for anyone to go through the same thing.
They claim to have clean, inviting, quiet, and safe neighborhood. Look at the pictures on their web page...what do you think....clean and inviting. Yeah they sure look like it but what they don't tell you or SHOW you is that almost every apartment is infested with COCKROACHES AND ANTS!! I don't even own any animals and I get ate up by fleas...must have been from the former occupants...which means they didn't clean the apartment thoroughly enough Sure they offer to spray the apartments for the nasty bugs, but that just attracts them more, and they get bigger with every spray!! I had one crawling on my foot while watching tv that was the size of a toy car. And I am a clean neat freak. WTF??
Also the fridge is leaking water almost every other week,(they claim to have fixed it all the time) and what does that do, run up your water bill....that Chatham Harbor Apartments also takes care of for you.
Oh and don't let the security gate fool you IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK!! Not to mention there are loud stereo systems going on all night long, and people screaming and making all kinds of noise, to the point where it is nearly impossible to sleep. Oh and the trash oh MY GOSH!! The trash men never pick up all the trash when they are supposed to so for several weeks it smells like sewage,especially when it is hot!! and you cant even open your window without it smelling like shit.
And the employees at Chatham Harbor aren't very pleasant themselves. As far as the property manager, well lets just say she doesn't do her job at all I am pretty sure she is just worried about getting paid. The management of the complex is reflected upon her...and none of it is positive. NONE OF IT!! Its not very pleasant. Imagine your toilet breaking and feces and urine spilling all over the floor overflowing, back up...for several days now all over your floor. And when you report the problem they say that it is not an emergency because there are 2 bathrooms. So then your apartment smells like shit too!! For several weeks. Because ITS NOT AN EMERGENCY!! WTF IS THAT??
Well in conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Well if you are looking to get screwed, and lose a lot of money for a fake image it is for you, if not....move on past chatham harbor. You will be wasting your money.
With the help of a friend I was able to break my lease. He managed to bring up every clause in the lease and how they were not fulfilling their obligations to me as a tenant. It was like a scene out of a movie. He walked into the office with me and opened up a verbal can of whip ass, and in 30 minutes it was over. Things like the Health Department and Center for Disease Control. I got my first and last months rent back along with my security deposit
Since I have moved into my new place I am a much happier person. I'm even thinking about getting some kind of a pet since the pet deposit where I am now is cheap. I just finished unpacking and about 9 cold Guinness under the belt.
