1. What did you do in 2006 that you had never done before?
- Gave blood
- Ate sushi
- Went to Rome
- Went on road trips where I was in the driving seat
- Went to the Big Chill, worked for Oxfam
- Did the London-Brighton bike ride (54 miles)
- Saw Placebo play their own show (rather than a set at a festival) FINALLY
- Took band photos - at the Mean Fiddler
- Had photos published
- Had photos bought
- Danced in a field in the rain at 3am, in the middle of a crowd of hundreds of people
There's more, but those are the ones that come to mind
2. Did you keep all of last years resolutions?
I never keep all my resolutions.
3. Have you any resolutions for next year?
Yes, and here they are:
Things I'm not going to do in 2007, by Chris
1.) Smoke - cut down and then quit by July at the latest, when the ban comes in.
2.) Spunk money all over the place. I'm saving for America. Things to remember: you do not need to buy clothes, your wardrobe is full. You do not need to buy shoes, your shoe rack is full. If you want to eat in America, stop buying dresses you are only ever going to wear once.
3.) Say the word spak. It is not a nice word. I need to think of something else to say instead.
4.) Be scared of things. There is nothing to be scared of. Except spiders. Spiders are f**king frightening.
5.) Faff about. 2007 is the year to get things done. Things to remember: You can do anything you want. If you can't, it's probably because you're not meant to.
Things I am going to do in 2007, by Chris
1.) Keep fit, be healthy
2.) 'Find out who you are and do it on purpose'
3.) Go to America
4.) Do the photo thing
5.) Seize the day
6.) Save money
7.) Be good.
4. What countries did you visit?
France, Belgium, Italy
5. What would you like to have in 2007 that you didn't have in 2006?
A better DSLR, a macro lens, a wide angle lens, a car, air miles, some sense, confidence, healthy lungs, pasta.
6. What date in 2006 will remain etched in your memory?
6/6/6 because it was a genuinely weird day.
June 18 - London to Brighton bike ride. Maddest day of the year.
February 26 - 3 hours staring down the barrell of a gun, seeing stars for life
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
- Cycling 54 miles to Brighton after pretty much EVERYONE who knew I was doing it had laughed in my face/put bets on how far I'd get before giving up.
- Passing my driving test first time, after getting 4 majors during my mock test and being told by my driving instructor there was no way I was going to pass.
- Raising 35 thousand pounds for Oxfam by standing around in a field all night wearing an orange tabard and popping pro plus every six seconds. For six days.
- Getting published.
- Having my photos in an exhibition.
8. What was your biggest failure?
I don't fail at things, I just sometimes don't achieve them.
9. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Well I have some kind of infection right now and my head's falling off. Apart from that, wheat intolerance. And last week I feel down Leon's stairs and really hurt my arm. That's about it.
10. What was the best thing you bought?
My SLR. No, my tattoos. No, my SLR. Erm...
11. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
He knows. Doesn't care, but he knows.
12. Where did most of your money go?
Clothes, eep. And fags, probably. And lighters. How is it that I'm always buying lighters because I can't find my lighter and then at the end of the year, I only have 2 lighters when I should have...about 55 lighters?
13. What did you get really really really excited about?
Getting tattooed. Going to Rome. Lots of photo-related things. Seeing bands. Guitar Hero.
13a. What did you get really really really weird about?
I just am really, really weird.
14. What songs will always remind you of 2006?
In the Morning by Razorlight - will always remind me of the Big Chill and Claire.
Young Folks by Peter, Bjorn and John - reminds me of the summer and every time we went to Koko
Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, and actually, the whole of the Black Parade album. Got me through a really difficult few weeks in October. Even though it was all about death, it really helped and is great, so hooray
Sugar We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy. Anything by Panic! At The Disco. Placebo's version of Running Up That Hill. The Great Escape by We Are Scientists. Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis. That stupid song off the Muller yoghurt adverts about hands and feet and livers that me and Alex sang all the way to Brighton during the bike ride.
15. Compared to this time last year are you:
[a] Fatter or thinner?
Thinner, by about a stone. Go me! Thanks to a combination of bike training, wheat intolerance and being hopelessly single enough to come off the pill. Woo!
[b Happier or sadder?
Happier about some things, sadder about other things. Mostly happier though.
[c] Richer or poorer?
A little bit richer, but only a little bit. Although not if you take into account my credit card bill and blimmin' student loan with all the added interest...Blah.
15. What do you wish you'd done more of in 2006?
Exercise. Seizing the day. There's really no point in looking back and wishing though. 2006 is done.
16. What do you wish you'd done less of in 2006?
Trusting people I shouldn't. Clothes shopping. Faffing about. Being stubborn and shy.
18. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my family and miraculously didn't get drunk.
19) Who was the best new person you met in 2006?
I rarely actually meet people that I want to keep in touch with, but this year I met a whole bunch of really cool people that I'm glad and proud to be able to count among my friends, both on here and in person (although there's so many of you I'd love to meet in person in 2007). So, hooray!
I don't play favourites as a rule. However - I'm fairly sure he knows who he is
Also, this year I became a lot closer to a lot of people I had either almost lost touch with this time last year, or had never become close to despite knowing them for years. Most of my best friends now are people I really didn't talk to so much a year ago, people like Sarah, Alex, Lucy, Claire. I'm so lucky to have them in my life now, as well as all my other friends. They all make me feel loved and lovely
20. Did you fall in love in 2006?
No, there was no falling.
21. How many one night stands?
I may be old fashioned but I don't do one night stands. *shrugs*
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yeah. Thats quite sad, but yes. I wish I'd never found out what it felt like.
24. What was/were the best books you read?
I can't remember what I read this year. Eek. I should read more.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
The Fratellis, Prize Fighter Inferno, Panic! At The Disco, We Are Scientists, Guillemots.
And bands that I knew existed but didn't fall in love with til this year:
Brand New, The Killers, The Deftones, Mr Scruff
26. What did you want and get?
A DSLR, A driving licence, A Nintendo DS, good friends, recognition as a photographer (well, a smidge), a branch of Krispy Kreme within 3 miles of my house
27. What did you want and not get?
Many things, but hey, we can't have everything.
29. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I was 22 - indie disco, lots of people came, was lovely. Got tattooed, was taken out for dinner, got bought 24 Krispy Kreme donuts, went to the doctor and found out I'm allergic to wheat, had to watch everyone else eat the donuts and my birthday cake...
30. What one thing would have made your year more satisfying?
Erm...I dunno, being rich and famous? I don't really think about stuff like that. It didn't happen, whatever it is, so....
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Experimental, not always a success but hey, at least I made the effort.
32. What kept you sane?
My friends and family, music, driving too fast late at night.
33. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Johnny Depp. Obviously.
34. Which political issue stirred you the most?
I don't really do politics.
35. Who did you miss?
Many people. Tazz, my brain sister (our brains are identical in ditziness, it's like we have 2 halves of the same odd brain), Dan, who is in Australia now, and all my uni friends. I missed Winchester a lot. Actually, I missed all of my friends when I didn't see them for more than 2 days. My brother but shhhh I'll never tell him
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year?
Don't drink ten shots of tequila when its 27C outside. You WILL end up in Trafalgar Square throwing up at 4am.
Also - failing to give way when entering a roundabout just because you can't be bothered is a BAD idea.
37. Best gig of 2006:
In no particular order:
1.) Placebo, Wembley Arena, December
2.) Goo Goo Dolls, Brixton Academy, May
3.) We Are Scientists, Brixton Academy, April
4.) Guillemots, London Astoria, October
5.) Panic! At The Disco, London Astoria, May
I don't know how or why yet, but 2007 is going to be THE year, pronounced 'thee', not 'the'.
I have a feeling. And I'm scared, but in a good way.
It's all happening.

Happy new year, you. May your 2007 be awesome - I'm sure it will be.
