Bleugh...Tricky one for me, as i love my music.
Wouldn't agree with the top 5 songs according to my Itunes; thats for sure.
1) Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden. Can't really be anything else, years ago i was channel hopping through the music channels and landed on this...Seeing this many people singing to the same song is amazing; and i still get goosebumps to this day!
2) Ravenous by Arch Enemy. Wasn't the first song by them i heard - that goes to We Will Rise (which took me a long time to start to like, kept seeing it and it slowly grew on me, originally i didn't like it!) Ravenous i liked from the get go really.
3) Sabaton; 40-1 . This could - within reason - be any of most of Sabaton's songs. Saw them for the first time years ago; in my hometown supporting Dragonforce...and they blew them out of the water, they were amazing; and i've since seen them twice more, they're a kickass band live, and in their songs they "teach history" - if it wasn't for them i wouldn't know about the Battle of Wizna, about all the different nations that fought in the Battle of Britain, the small Belgian force that took on the Germans during WW2...I could go on. 40-1 to me was the first song i can really remember, and it - to me - reminds us that we should remember all soldiers that have fought for our freedom
4) Creedence Clearwater Revival; Fortunate Son. Dunno, theres just something about this song. Managed to see John Fogerty at Hard Rock Calling a few years ago (Didn't know who he was...but knew some of his songs). Just an amazing song really; think its also some kind of memory thing; used to play Battlefield Vietnam and there was a radio on there, and this is one song that i can remember was played in it.
5) Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Theres something about classical music that i enjoy; and similar to the other songs theres alternatives to this one. Could easily say the tune from Bridge over the River Kwai (great film), the Dam Busters march...but this is great work. (Saw it played at the Royal Albert Hall a few years ago, one of the people i went with warned the group about the cannons played in it...and she was the only one that jumped!)
I could honestly add on loads of other songs/bands - Rose of Sharyn by Killswitch Engage will always have a place in my heart; Here's to Us by Halestorm - hearing an albeit different version of the song will cheer my mood up when im at work. Too many to mention tho...But what is above is definately part of my top 5!
