Work has been slow lately, as I'm told it always is during these months. So I've been spending more time at home doing my little thing here. Still dressing at the Metropolitan Opera, but it's quite part time. I seem to remember several people asking me about what working at the Met is like... I'll have to write a post on that soon, photos included!
I visited florida for a few days and met a great deal of my family for the first time. I've got 15 or so cousins I've never met in my life, and the older generations I haven't visited in 12 years. It was slightly surreal but I felt quite welcomed and learned quite a bit about stuff that happened when I was a wee sprout. I was slightly concerned about encountering a senile grandma who I could hardly have a real conversation with, instead I found a grandma who sat up talking with me until 2am with a drink in hand. sweet.
I'm designing costumes for my first music video! I've been interested in doing this for some time, I'm glad to finally have the opportunity. The band itself, a punk group called The Choke, is not very well known, but the director of the video has feature films and lots of TV under his belt, so hopefully this will unlock all kinds of new doors.
I'm also designing a little Lincoln Bicentennial celebration/play. It's a very intelligent piece written by a seriously nerdy friend of mine. I'm inspired by his point of view.
I received a huge donation of vintage clothes today to add to my stock. Exciting!! Much of it is from the 40's and 50's. I now get to go through the fun process of photographing everything and filing it away into my already sizable stock. And who knows, I might even wear some of the cuter pieces in an upcoming modeling shoot. I've got a few of them in February.
The Bee started his new job on on Monday. He's a draftsman now for Showman Fabricators. They're the company who brought you such sets as, Jay Leno's, Fox News, and The Little Mermaid on Broadway. It's a nice pay raise from Macy's Parade, where he was before, so I feel not so bad about bringing in so little bacon myself this month.
I learned one of my closest peeps is moving to California in a few months. I'm quite sad to see him go... but I'm MORE overwhelmed with gratitude that he's making the change. As a close friend, I know it's a great choice for him. So now I need to try to stuff in as much quality time as I can with him!
Well I suppose that's enough for now.

Sounds like you have a lot going on! So on the work stuff for you, what is it exactly that you do? I noticed you mentioned a sizable wardrobe, costume design? The Met must be awesome!
