brainwashing the children of tomorrow
one-by-one-by-one
Teaching can be fun when you make it fun for yourself -
a good friend told me that, and it's true.
I had a really good lesson today.
It was with a group of year 7 kids, they lapped up the work and even produced some fine drawings
I'm proud of them
Even better still is the fact that my year 10 art class (boys and girls) are expressing a desire to want to learn life drawing - hell they don't even care if the model's not nude! They just want to learn how to draw the figure properly. My heart raced and lept miles - they actually want to learn
So, this all leaves me in a funny position - I KNOW that the head of art will not approve of anything i put to him because he's always thinking of the bottom line = money.
That, plus the fact that he's always worried about keeping the status quo and not attracting any attention from his bosses - he hates people looking over his shoulder.
Look, I know that I'm sounding off about my boss and work but I cannot help but think that there's an opportunity going missing here at the cost of the kids.
Unitl now there's been nothing but confrontation and obstruction from my boss which has left be very bruised and blue
But I'm now thinking of way's around this, and one of them is to start making money from the kids - for the kids. And i'm gonna start with a 25 or 50p comic book drawn by kids for kids.
Thus the: Cosmic Comic Club, is born!
Oh, and by the way charlieguru and my daughter will be 2 years old tomorrow (10th March 2005)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEAH!
