Yesterday I had a car accident... it was bad
Picture it:
It was a normal Tuesday morning. I was driving to work. It had been raining and I decided to take things nice and easy - nothing above 40 with everything being pretty much around 30...
Even with the limited amount of traffic on the roads there was no need to be bombing it along at 40/50/60 on the nations speed limit roads - keep things going smooth, ticking over, there's a little traffic, hold back, relax, enjoy the drive.
I came up to the St. John's roundabout just outside of Clacton, there was a car infront of me, I dropped back down to first and waited until he'd gone, moved forward, checked to my right, was indicating to go right onto the roundabout, there was a silver ford focus waaaayyyyy off, so I pulled out onto the roundabout and made my way past two turnoff's on the roundabout.
Then the world went bad I'd shifted up to second, checked my mirrors and was about to indicate left and pull off the roundabout. It was then that I lost the back end of the car, I jinked backwards and left, spun 360, hit the side of the road/kerb and flipped the car over twice. I didn't touch the gas, brakes or anything. I wasn't racing along. I Didn't hit anyone else thankfully.
I DID hit my head on the roof/floor of the car, sprained my wrist and wrenched my shoulder. I ended upside down in my car wedged into the side of the road/grass embankment and was stuck in my seatbelt. No doors would open, the windcscreen was smashed in, and everything was black.
I managed to turn off the radio (TalkSport 10:89mw), turn off the engine andreleased the seatbelt - I fell to the roof/floor of the car, rolled to my left and cut my hands up on the glass which was everywhere. I managed to take a second or two to look around and see the state of the car - I didn't recognize anything. It was then that I heard voices outside the front passenger door and saw people managing to yank the door open. 6 hands pulled me out of the wreak. I grabbed my bag and laptop and the firebrigade arrived.
Everything after that happened so fast that I really am a bit hazy - paramedics put me in a neck collar and onto a board, then a guerney. I was given air in the ambulance. I couldn't move. The cops came and took my details. I managed to find out that there was a diesel spill on the road and that combined with the light, dusty rain meant that if it wasn't me, then it would've been someone else.
I just wanted to know what I'd done wrong... it turned out that I didn't do anything wrong. I felt even worse. I was soooo scared. IF I'd been a boy-racer and been going too fast then hey I'd stick my hands up to it, but I hadn't and that made everything alot harder to take.
NOW: I'm at home and off work for the next couple of days. I've still got the shakes (Sorry for any typos!
), and I'm feeling pretty fucked-up to be honest.
charlieguru's been absolutely fucking amazing and deserves a lifetime subscription to SG for the love and support she's given/continues to give.
Just thought you'd like to know what's been going on.
p.s.: Look's like that complete fucking asshole Bush is going to win the US Election - we're all going to hell in a hand-cart people and Blair's kissing this guys arse all the way there!
