What did you do to celebrate your first SOTD, "Wit Beyond Measure"?
I bought a new guitar, haha! I named her Rosanna, it’s my middle name and was my username when I first joined SG, before changing it to Gnomi.
How did you come up with your SG name?
It’s one of my nicknames IRL, and I’m a fan of fantasy novels/games/films, so it seemed like the perfect name choice! When I first joined the site, my username was Rosanna.
What's your best quality?
I’m quite resilient, I don’t let bad things that have happened to me in the past change my kind nature.
What do you collect?
Pokémon cards, I’m running out of space for all the folders!
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
A parrot would be great fun, they’re so extra and it’d be cool to be able to fly.
What instrument do you play and how did you get into it?
I’ve been singing for a very long time, but my main instrument is the guitar. I quit violin lessons to learn the guitar after Avril Lavigne’s Complicated music video appeared on my TV. It’s a male-dominated instrument so it came with its challenges, but seeing a badass sk8r girl with a guitar on my TV was all the encouragement I needed
What are your musical aspirations? Are you learning anything new?
I’m striving to be a stronger lead guitarist, so I’ve been working on things I’m bad at like tapping, speed exercises, sweep picking etc.
Where can we find your work?
I have some covers up on YouTube and TikTok but I will have some original music available on all streaming platforms this year!
Who are your favorite musicians and bands?
Ghost, Polyphia, Tricot, Sleep Token, Tool, Frederic and Chelsea Wolfe are heavily rotated at the moment!
What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
I’ve seen some amazing bands and artists, giants and locals, but my first ever concert will forever be my favourite. I saw Avril Lavigne live when I was 10 and I idolized her so much! The gig was so amazing and she definitely waved at me. (I still have the T-shirt from this show)
What song or album should everyone listen to at least once?
Lianne La Havas’ 2012 album “Is Your Love Big Enough?” - oh my god, it’s sublime.
What do you want to be remembered for?
The songs I write. I’m finally getting back into it and plan on releasing at least two original singles this year!
Thanks for getting me to 6k followers recently, you guys are the best! - @gnomi
