Tell us about your experience shooting your first SOTD!
My first SOTD was Americano, shot by Cygnet. I really wanted to do a set with coffee and donuts with a fall theme (I love having a nice hot coffee when the weather is cool). Cygnet is always wonderful to work with, and I loved how it came out! This set was very me, and showcased a lot of my personality. It went into MR on June 11, 2021, and I was notified it was chosen as SOTD on August 2, 2021. I hope to get another SOTD soon!
Who are your favorite photographers?
I've worked with both @Zen and @Cygnet a few times now. I connected with them for the first time when I saw Zen post about being in my state for a shootfest. The shootfest was full, so I shot a set on Cygnets couch with Zen titled Pink Potion. Then later I asked Cygnet to shoot Americano with me. We shot it in my kitchen. Then the following year I attended a shootfest both of them were putting on and shot another set with each.
Have you ever been to a shootfest?
I've been to two and they were both wonderful experiences. The first one I attended that Zen and Cygnet put on was my fave. I got along very well with everyone and they were very kind. I am Neurodivergent (on the spectrum) and have certain accommodations I need (mainly time to retreat and have some quiet), and they were very helpful and accepting. I felt very comfortable the entire time and met so many incredible babes. I was quite scared at first because I've had plenty of "mean girl" experiences in my life, but it was great!
Tell us a few interesting facts about you.
I am on the autism spectrum, I am a self taught seamstress, and I used to compete in equestrian sports.
Share a skill or hobby you're passionate about.
Cosplay/sewing. I love wearing cosplay and sewing it. I used to make every single one of my cosplays, but now I do buy some due to time constraints. I always end up having to tailor them anyway though.
Tell us about your tattoos
I currently have 7 but want more! I love Norse Mythology and the ravens on my chest are Huginn and Muninn, Odin's ravens. I also have Jörmungandr on my thigh. I have an evil eye on my back, a protective tattoo. I have a quote from one of my favorite books, The Handmaid's Tale, on my forearm. It says Nolite Te Bastardes Carborundorum. I have a little heart on my hip that I got on my 18th birthday, and I have a half sleeve of birthday themed stuff, including my birth flower, which is a Marigold, and a Jack-o-lantern, bats, spider webs, and a crescent moon (I'm a Halloween baby).
What’s your workout routine?
I used to go to the gym before the pandemic, but right now I mainly do ground exercises and kettle bell exercises at home.
Have you ever fostered or rescued an animal?
I had two amazing cats, but they have both passed. One was a white and grey tabby named Kratos, and the other was an orange longhair tabby named Battlecat. I got both as tiny kittens amd they were super friendly and used to follow me everywhere.
Kratos was rescued. His mother had given birth to him and hadn't cleaned the after birth off properly, so his umbilical cord was wrapped around his rear leg. His sister was like that too. It ended up cutting off the blood circulation and both lost their back foot. The owner said he was going to "throw them away because no one wants a three legged cat" so I took them and ended up keeping Kratos. His sister went to my mom.
What's one assumption others make about you that you wish you could dispel?
That I am mean or intimidating. I have RBF (resting bitch face) and being shy makes it worse because I'm also quiet, but I am actually a very nice person as long as you are nice to me.
I appreciate each and every one of you that support my sets and interact with me on SG. - @samihain
