fallen civilization and visual stimulation.
the clouds move in such slow resolution - in fact everything in this world that isnt man made moves at such a patient speed. why dont we? its like the old man in shawshank redemption says after getting out of jail and making it back into the real world (the outside being so different before he was thrown in, no automobiles or anything. the new age had truely come since commiting his crimes) now the quote was something like "why'd the world go and get itself in such a goddamn hurry." its not much, but its quality over quantity. this quote is so true. why are we in such a rush? are we racing to our own demise? its inevitable yes, but could we have prolonged this period had we not come along so quickly? no matter how hard we try their is no escaping what weve built. its out of our hands, and the whole world trying to work together wouldnt even stop this now. every nation paranoid of the other. what happens if an entire race is demolished?
i think that destruction is obviously crappy, (for lack of words ) BUT i think if we all ceased to be-destroying everything through nuclear warfare-and sometime far, far down the line something more evolved took our place as the "intelligent being" - what would they think of our destroyed ruins, and civilization? the crumbling, weak and brittle highways mostly thrown to the ground from years of erosion and shifting of the earth. the broken roads, bridges, towers and iconic landmarks would make for a real eye opener. i read a short story that dealt with something similar to this when i was younger. in the story we're led to believe that the timeline is sometime in the far past. and the tribe-ish people in the story had an entire life they built around our now devastated land. they believed the Gods built and lived in these surrounding landscapes and cities. the people were not to go near it because it was holy ground. yet being as people are, a young and curious boy set out and ventured to the highest moss covered, dismantled building in sight. after relentless effort he made it to the top floor, and to his surprise he stumbles into a room with a chair and desk both of which are facing towards the large lookout - and the chairs front facing away from him - as he becomes concerned with what or who appears to be sitting in this chair, he pushes it around to face him. and as he does this he sees what used to be a man in suit and tie who had obviously died in the explosion so long before his tribes very existance. these cities were not built by Gods, but by man. just like himself. once upon a time. men, who came - lived fast - and died even faster.
i was listening to the oldies radio station a few days ago and they talked of a women who had reported that a man and woman closed in on her vehicle - with her kids in the car - tapped on the glass, and then the quick thinking mother threw the car into reverse then exited the area quickly. its kind of scary the people that hold our lives in there own hands. i know if i was that young and had that been my mother, we would have lost our vehicle, possesions, and maybe our lives. its funny how the reaction of someone else can effect you and possibly the outcome of the rest of your life. on this station i also heard that a mother down south somewhere took her 5 year old with her to applebees. she "believed" she was ordering her son an apple juice, but recieved an alcoholic beverage. after noticing how quiet the boy was for a time, she figured he wasnt feeling well, started asking if he was alright but would not respond to anything she had said. instead the boy started "laughing hysterically" for quite some time. the mother wanted to sue the company for a martini she had ordered herself. i think she wanted $75,000... but how do you not realize when your kid is drinking alcohol?! had he been like two, maybe id understand, but being five, realistically THAT shouldnt have any long term effects. except maybe he'll become a drunk from young age. haha. who knows?
so i was flipping through the channels earlier tonight and paused for a tic to watch the news. i dont watch much football so i couldnt tell you what football team it was or anything, but anywho, the reporter explained how a diehard fan ran onto the field...(while showing footage of him unknowingly being picked up from behind by one of the football players and then was ruthlessly thrown to the ground, all the while the other teamates childishly laughed at his misfortune.) the man was punished-forced not to watch the superbowl coming up-...let me get this straight, this man, who was, untoned compared to these football jocks, nor was he fortunate enough to be wearing the football attire, was fucking nearly powerbombed by a man twice his size and then laughed at by the entire team. i would hope that wasnt the team he was rooting for... now punished? i would have to say having wrestling moves forced on you seems like punishment enough to me... but thats just me. maybe im just crazy? and something i feel needs to be repeated-the fact that he is being FORCED not to watch the superbowl game. how, in the courtroom can a judge tell someone that they can not watch their own tv in the comfort of there own home? dont get me wrong, i think its great to keep some rednecks from watching "the big game" together, all of which are intoxicated which makes for a bad mix... but what the fuck? seriously. where do we live again?
