Poem to Silence

Silence
You desert island
I will try to
Break open
Some green husks
Here
See if there is any
Meat or milk.
I will go to the shipwreck
And bring back, quickly
What tools I can
I have only a few hours you know
Before the
Habitual storm resumes
A few hours
Before the pirates turn up
To sharpen their stupid oaths
A few hours
Before the birds squawk
That is mine
And THAT is mine
Under their faux-sweet
Loudest
Songs
Only a few hours
On this
Tan prayer mat of a beach
To do my own
Little silent work.
