My parents are so damn narcissistic.
I told them I didn't want to go around telling everyone I was going for a doctorate at this point, but then I call them today and a guy friend of theirs picks up and says, "Hi, Laura. I hear you're doing your Ph.d."
Gaaahhh. Ok, first of all, it's not a Ph.D but a Psy.D. Secondly, why do you have to go around bragging before I've even been accepted? I'll remain mum on the school's name until then and, yes, it's a very particular school I'm aiming for (not a famous one, but good). I submitted the application today and will probably achieve a conditional acceptance for now, since my master's won't be completed until early August.
Their narcissism is one thing that tester got right in her report. Although, this sort of thing doesn't "cause" autism spectrum disorders or their symptoms. Now, watch my eyes roll out of my head.
On the other hand, it's nice to have proud and supportive parents. Better than having neglectful, indifferent ones.

So I said, "Well, I bet you wouldn't have known it was me if you hadn't seen my name pop up. So there."
