Whew. Last post over a month ago. So, has a lot happened? No, not really. The move (I feel like it should be capitalized) to San Francisco is coming in about 2 weeks. As in, a week from this coming Tuesday. I will be up there for a week, helping Maya move our stuff into our new, tiny apartment, and getting our cats settled (good news is that our apartment is in a really cool part of the city). Then, I will fly back to Tucson and continue to work until I find a job up there.
Job, yeah... on that front, there's been a whole lot 'o nothing. Supposed to have a phone interview a few weeks ago, and they never called me (after talking with the headhunter who put me in touch, he said 'that's weird, let me check' and then I never heard from HIM). Had a phone interview on Thursday; apparently the SF job I applied for was actually located just outside of LA, and the phone interviewer had no idea that I was moving to SF and NOT LA. After I cleared that up, she got off the phone right quick and told me to check back in Sept. or Oct. Not terribly useful. I applied to a couple of jobs that are essentially my current job in the SF area yesterday; we'll see what comes of that, but I did talk to an HR person with that company months ago. She forwarded my resume along to the appropriate HR people and told them to forward it along to hiring managers. So that's slightly more hopeful, but I'm not holding my breath... Anyway, this job hunt is a drag. It's almost been 6 months at this point, and not a hit. Bad economy affects everyone, I guess.
Part of the reason I'm so desperate (beyond wanting to live in the same state as my wife) is that things have gotten a lot more cold with some coworkers and openly hostile with a few more since announcing my leaving. The bulk of them understand and are happy for me, etc, but a few won't talk to me at all anymore and one blew up at me completely for, ostensibly, not asking about his health enough. More than a little bizarre, but this guy is a nutjob, so I'm not taking it personally.
Anywho, hope you all are doing well out there in SG-Land. Drop me a line and I'll do my best to answer.

Hopefully you can hear something good back soon from one of the prospects. It never makes sense to me how coworkers will turn their backs on you for trying to move on and better yourself
