I've been too long away. The good news is that my journal doesn't have that stale air smell that your apartment sometimes gets when you've been on holiday somewhere and you have laundry that needs doing.
I can't even remember where I left off, but it doesn't matter all that much. Updates will be few and far between for a while.
Things That Are Important And Are Therefore Bulleted for Emphasis and Convenience of Presentation:
- After 8 days of sweating and worrying a hole in my living room rug, I am officially enrolled in both of my 4000 level undergraduate writing workshops. Which means that I'll be graduating in June.
- I'm in the market for an inexpensive laptop. When I say "inexpensive," I mean "dirt cheap." I want to be able to write someplace other than my room, which, while comfortable for sleeping, is creatively stagnant.
- My good friend Sara is getting married a week before my graduation.
- It recently occurred to me that the Dew Drop Inn is a play on "do drop in." I think it's clever and inviting.
The first exercise in my poetry workshop is to fill a page with words that I think have a rich texture in the mouth. Some of my personal favorites, most of which I have recycled from lists I've made in the past:
extravaganza
soup
illumination
gobbet
esplanade
nozzle
protuberant
recidivist
ennui
I'd love to hear some of yours.
(please only list "defenestration" if you genuinely think it sounds wonderful)
