Yesterday was one of the best and worst days I can remember for awhile. First of all, I got my yearly review at work. After receiving shitloads of praise and setting a record for (as they put it), "The person in that position the longest" I received a PHAT 2% raise. Can you sense my sarcasm? That added 500 dollars a year to my salary. Woo fucking who. Thanks guys. I feel like a 'team player' and a real asset to the company. Furthermore, every single person in the company that has a yearly review has gotten taken out to lunch by the boss.
Everyone except me. My boss pulled me in her office 9 minutes before it was time to leave and hurried through it. I got reprimanded for wearing berkinstocks on casual Friday twice (while the CEO wore jeans) and wearing some funky pants ONCE. No, they couldn't say the shit to me any OTHER time, they had to let that bullshit affect how much of a raise I got. Well, they had to have SOME excuse, right? Right-o.
You know, I'm aware of the fact that I'm 'just' a receptionist and administrative assistant, but I truly am everyone's bitch around here. It sucks to be that lowest rung on the ladder and even after a year, get little to no respect from my 'peers'. Can you say, "monster.com?" I know I can! Muhahhaha...
Okay.. on to the good stuff!!!! I got an accountant for our business yesterday who told me all the money we're spending right now we can get back next tax season. That means a BIG ASS income tax check in April and our Jamaica dreams are looking like they will come true. We ironed out a lot of details with the business and he got me Quick Books. He'll be coming over in a few weeks to set everything up and organize our books. Then he'll come in on a month-to-month basis to do the books. He's a kick ass guy.
I look at it this way: Although my job sucks, I would have never met our accountant who is helping us with our new business without it. I give him a ride to work every day. I also keep in mind that this job is not my source -- God is.
In the end, after a horrible day at work, I got great news concerning our business and from my doctor. I don't think I mentioned this before, but I had a cancer scare and had to have surgery. I got my pathology report in from her yesterday along with a letter. She was very happy to inform me that they had removed all the abnormal stuff and I should be fine. I have to go back in September for some more tests, but she says she has all the confidence in the world that I will make a full recovery.
I'm truly blessed.

And I see you like 'I Spit on Your Grave'. You should check out a recent Japanese movie called 'Freeze Me.' It's a similar story, but a little more psychological...
