I want a longboard. I've long thought that longboards were pretty damn cool, and I'm now thinking that having one of my own would be pretty rad. Why? Well, a couple of reasons. The first is for fun. I used to street skate, and though I think I'm too out of practice for trick skating (and too old to get back into it), I think longboarding would be the next best thing. Second, because of where I plan to move in August, a longboard would be ideal for transportation. I will still be downtown, but I will be just far enough away from the centre of the city that it won't be a quick walk if I want to go down to Churchill Square for some festival action or something. But, it'll be close enough that I won't want to drive (and deal with trying to park downtown). A longboard would be perfect because I'd be able to move fast enough that the distance wouldn't really be a problem. Faster than walking, but cheaper, easier, and less polluting than driving (plus, again, no hassle trying to find an inexpensive place to park for the day).
The main reason, though, is just fun, like I said before. FUN FUN FUN. So, I'm looking to boards that are good for cruising, and that are relatively inexpensive. There are a few places around town that sell them, so I think I'll start doing some research in the very near future.
