So, the turntables didn't show up on Saturday, because J had some family troubles that I won't get into here (it's really not my business to make it more public than I already have), but she managed to seem pretty positive when she met up with us later in the night.
The party itself was excellent. It sort of ended up being a dinner party, followed by board games and alcohol. It was an odd mix, and I felt older than I am as a result, but it was fun nonetheless.
Unfortunately, K, or "Art Girl" as a co-worker calls her, didn't show up. I realize that she doesn't want to go beyond the level of friendship at the moment, but it's pretty tough to be friends with someone who seems unwilling to spend time with you. Having said that, I'm absolutely going to ask her to go to the office Christmas party with me. Legendary parties, this company holds. Or, so I'm told. I haven't worked there long enough to confirm the rumours, but from what I've seen, I'm inclined to believe it.
