I'm moving to Portland, just as soon as I can confirm housing. waiting to hear back from a place i skype'd with last night.
i received response to a housing wanted ad i posted a couple days ago. at the bottom of her message the girl said this:
"PS- I'm from Long Island. Moved here on a whim about 2 years ago after finishing school at SUNY New Paltz. Best choice I ever made. I hope it works out for you :-)

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common then unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. -Calvin Coolidge"
she had the Coolidge quote as her email sig. thought maybe it was a sign. everyone i know thinks this move will be good for me. fingers crossed because im nervous about it. ive also had two people in the last 24 hours warn me that the unemployment rate in oregon sucks and that it wont be easy to find a job. guess what? it isnt easy to find a job anywhere. it took me five months last time in new york.
i want this to work. need it to work. the alternative is going home. id hate myself if i didnt at least try. better to try and fail than go home and wonder for the rest of my life.
packing, planning, and looking for work. night all.
