ow.
went for a ride out of town today, and it was interesting for a couple reasons. first, on the way back, during the flat, fast of the ride about 12 miles out from the gw i passed and was paced by a guy for a little bit. we ended up in an ad hoc paceline with another guy. this was interesting because i have absolutely no paceline skills. my bike handling isnt bad at this point, but i always ride alone. because im still adding strength and conditioning to my legs, the only thing i know about pacing is to spin at as high a cadence and speed as i can comfortably maintain. thats kinda what happened with this group. we were moving along at about 21.5 mph. i moved up after the third guy took a pull. the roads sped up a bit and i pushed as fast as i could for a couple of miles. i dropped back to drink, was complimented on the pull, and set in on the original guy's wheel for another mile-ish. i pulled up to him and he looked done. a hill came up and i just went. i didnt see him again.
the other interesting thing. i made it back to the city fine, and thought i should go home. i was ok, but didnt feel like riding a park loop because of the crowds, and wasnt sure i had the legs to get to battery and back. i wanted the miles, so i went anyway. dumbest move ive made on the bike in a long time. i knew a couple miles in that i didnt have it. got to the financial district and turned around before i made it to battery. i was exhausted when i got home. four hours, a hot shower, and one my shakes later and i still hurt. ah well.
nothing else really. restart the job search for real tomorrow. already found a few to apply to. this will be the first year since i started working that i wont make more money than the previous one. kinda depressing. thought quite a bit about some things relating to the job hunt, but ill save those for another time. trying not to fall asleep right now.
night.
