doing much better. unemployment papers came alright signed by my former boss yesterday, which means there doesnt appear to be any reason why i wont be able to start sucking on the government teat for a while. this fact is greatly comforting because my biggest fear of being jobless would be that i would have to blow through the few thousand dollars ive carefully managed to stash away the last four years.
it seems as though everyone i know has stories of how being unemployed was the best thing that ever happened to them because they took a little time to travel or indulge a hobby for a while. im very curious to see how much the first check will be for, but ive never really had time off and been in position to relax and do anything with it, and ive done damn little traveling. i might see if i can really enjoy this for a bit. if nothing else it should provide time to ride a lot and in get in crazy good shape.
i went out last night with some of my friends from the office for a guys birthday party. we ended up at place called Blind Tiger Ale House in what i think was the west village (better than a year in a new york and im still learning the lower neighborhoods, sadly). decent sized, a lot of windows, and a ton of stuff on tab. pricing was pretty good too. a girl was there that ive had a crush on for three years, and i was doing my best to flirt and let her know i was interested, but im pretty terrible at that sort of thing. have another party to go to at a friends place in the east village tonight. should be good times.
