It would be a bit presumptious to say that this depresses me, seeing as I haven't been in the group very long and don't know him except through a couple of comments, but it does sadden me a bit to see that abel's leaving the group. I can understand why, tho. Al's the group owner and has the right to lock posts. I understand why she did so; she explained the reason after I contacted her about the thread. That said... it was out of line to refer to the discussion as being about "[our] weird-ass philosophies on life."
It says much about my current state of mind that I was insulted by that, but not insulted enough to follow up on my inclination to leave at the time. (In hindsight, I know the reason for this. I thought I might be overreacting, taking it too personally. Evidently I was not alone in that sentiment.)
It's especially notable that that statement was made even though some other threads, dealing with more bizarre and flippant topics, were left open. Joking or serious, writing about worshipping Cthulhu and Winnie the Pooh is a bit higher on the weird-ass scale than the discussion that was closed.
My sense of humor may be lacking; if so, so be it. It could have been handled better.
Still: no investment, no loss.
On a completely different note, I'd actually go to see these guys.
