since my large bout of depression, midlife crisis, whatever you want to call it this weekend, my playlist has had the same 31 songs on it. some of them i haven't listened to in up to 5+ years, but for some reason, they strike a chord with me again. some of them are by bands i don't listen to, but the one song found it's way onto my computer for one reason or another, and it just fits my mood. all of them must have some general theme, and i want to know what it is.

*i absolutely REFUSE to call american nightmare "give up the ghost", despite the fact that they were forced to change their name for bullshit reasons. their full album, "background music" is the one that's on the playlist (and the reason for so many of their songs being on there). i hate hardcore screamo shit with a passion, but something about wes' lyrics hits home. i keep the booklet for that cd with the lyrics in my bookcase, because they aren't lyrics to a song, their invididual poems. the music itself i hate, but that booklet will be with me forever.
