So I went to city hall yesterday (finally) and applied for my business tax certificate and ficticious business name. I've opened a full service legal assistance company that I'm running out of our current offices with my attorney boss. It's called (for now): "Affordable Legal Services." I process and file paperwork in divorce, custody, child support, guardianship and adoption cases. I also will be offering simple wills, trusts, durable and healthcare powers of attorney, evictions and temporary restraining order cases. I'm testing the market with my current business name....I wanted to have my last name as the moniker, but I'll wait until I get more established and well known. 87% of all divorce cases in Fresno County last year were in pro per people who either didn't want, didn't need or couldn't afford an attorney. That's a HUGE market and, it appears that, my competition is fairly negligible. Our offices are right across the street from the courthouse.......it really couldn't have worked out any better. I'm going to the bank today to open a business checking account so my write offs can start immediately. Business lunch anyone? Trip to Cancun? Well, Mr. Accountant, it was a staff development training seminar. Ha ha. I love this shit.
