My heart goes out to the friends and family members of the 148 passengers and crew members onboard the Germanwings A320 Airbus today when the plane disappeared off the radar before falling from the sky. There is still speculation as to what exactly caused the plane from to crash en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf as it flew over the French Alps earlier today, and Lufthansa are still hoping to find survivors on their search. All we know for certain is that this is a dark day for Lufthansa and anybody else effected by this disaster... I get on flights without so much as a second thought... The way I think of it is that the percentage of crashes that happen on the road every day is way higher than the percentage of plane crashes... I guess it has a completely different feel to it being so high up, but I always think that fear should be backwards x) @lordskrappy ... Thanks for the update! @indigoeden You are absolutely correct. It is far more dangerous to drive to the shopping mall, than to fly around the world. I'm a Ground Transportation Safety Lecturer. I love to drive, but planes still freak me out :) Really, I have an ulterior motive. On each of my automobile trips, I plan stops at the coolest little destinations. At times, it's a real pain to drive, so I make it worth the trip. I must admit, the sky is so much safer. Cheers!
