A three part documentary about Chicago aired last night on PBS. I have a better understanding of why the city is the way it is now. This city was (literally) built on greed, corruption and exclusion - rather than inclusion.
Yet, I still love it. I'm a firm believer in the phrase, "Whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger." Plus, I have a naive belief that I can do my part to change things for the better.

As a librarian, I actually get really tired of anything literary. The yuppies I serve try to get too intellectual, forcing me to keep up. There's nothing wrong with a nice coffee table book now and then. Brains need to rest.
