i might actually be in london the 6th-14th ... when exactly are you coming out? even if i can't show you around personally, i can definitely give you a lot of pointers, although i'd much prefer to do it in person.
oak:
that should work out fine; I won't really be able to take extra time off from work but I'm sure I can find some time to go out. Will be great to see you guys!

oak:
like, specifically?

i think my fav on the new menu is the grilled prawns wrapped in serrano ham with carrot risotto, mascarpone, and lobster butter

or the elk tenderloin with bacon-wrapped salsify, swiss chard, cherry reduction, and foie gras emulsion

and i'm always a sucker for braised beef short ribs, and they fuckin' kick with the horseradish cream
oak:
ooh and the seared day boat scallops with creme fraiche, caviar, and lobster butter is also very nice

I kind of feel that writing about food, sex or music is akin to watching golf. It makes no sense to me.
However, Chuck Klosterman and Anthony Bourdain are two exceptions.

Husband: "Doctor - my wife smokes during sex. What should I do?"

Doctor: "Slow down and use some lube."

Thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the ribeye.

I had a sordid moment in Club Lucky, but I'm not going into that now.

We do a bone-in rib-eye at my joint

Ho ho
greenmadtown:
Very dorky joke. I loved it. And I wish I had a ribeye - or one of your spare ribs. Have a good Monday.

If only we could somehow merge the best talents of Mathew Broderick and Robert Downey Jr., I believe we'd have one of the best actors of our generation. Both are talented, however, they each lack something that prevents them from being extraordinary. I thought of this recently after seeing both "Short Cuts" and "Ferris Bueler" on TV recently.

I agree with the girl. I'll be stoppin by sometime...

Also, I hung out with RDJ about a year ago. They wouldn't let him skip the line and I was up next -- so I told him I'll get him in; I knew people. Ha. I didn't exactly know who he was, but I knew I've seen him on the TV or something. My friends confirmed. I kept asking him if he was that guy with the coke problem and babbling about Harry Connick Jr... but, for whatever reason, he continued to hang out with me and buy me drinks. Evidently my lack of "like, oh my god... you're so like robert downey jr." made him feel comfortable and I tend to scare people away, so nobody bothered us. I just leached on the beers and asked if we could do some cool VIP stuff.

Interesting night that one...

How cool is that?

i played this awesome game at chuck e cheese's (my favorite place to pick up guys; they're easy - i seduce them with a couple tokens and then we're off to the ball pit) that's a cross between foosball and airhockey. it fucking rocks. i want it so badly... i'd kill for it. KILL!

I planned on getting the oil in my truck changed today. As I approached my beloved mechanic, I saw a vacant lot where his shop once was (not that long ago).
I guess it was inevitable when you own an expensive piece of real estate in Lakeview.
This may seem insignificant, however I felt fortunate to have found a trustworthy mechanic in a town full...

R.I.P. - R.L. Burnside
In other news, some of my Minneapolis brethren will be visiting this weekend. I'm trying to sell the shit out of some records. Oh yeah, I have the coolest wife in the whole world.

No, I haven't done anything wrong. She just rools.

The end.
trocc:
have a fun weekend, man - drink a couple for RL.

was reminiscing with a friend about when those first few Fat Possum releases came out - RL's Bad Luck City and Junior Kimbrough's All Night Long...those were some haunting records.
phantomvi:
Actually, my (primary) excuse for missing the CD exchange was due to being dead broke.
But yes, I will be out next Sunday...and luckily I'm not limping around any more.
