It's Father's Day today, always a sad time for me. My dad past away when I was 17 and I am considering going to the cemetery today.
on the subject of cemetery's...
Some Like It Hot @ The Hollywood Cemetery...one of the best nights I have had in LA in a while. Next Saturday is Kubrick's "Lolita" and I suggest anyone in the LA area make their way over there.
Also on the agenda for this week.
6/22 - Toon Time with the RZA.
As part of the LA Film Festival, RZA will be performing a DJ set/soundtrack to his favorite cartoons. I have a couple extra tickets to this event I am trying to sell if anyone is interested. Wed night @ John Ford Amp (8pm).
I also want to try an catch some of the films being shown, but we will see what my schedules leaves open for me.
6/25 - Loilita @ The Cemetery or The Mountain Goats @ The Troubador
6/26 - David Byrne and The Arcade Fire...oh my.
Music Time.
I spent $120 at amoeba yesturday. On the list was...
Brian Eno - Anoher Day On Earth
Smog - A River Ain't Too Much To Love
Vetiver - Between
Stephen Malkmus - Face The Truth
and then about 7 records.
The only thing I have got to listen to so far was half of the Malkmus, and I can't really say anyhting about it yet, other than the few tracks didn't really grab me. I will report on the music in the next entry.
Have a nice Fathers Day to all the dads.
