NYC is the only city that I've felt is like a person -a breathing living entity -like the Gaia theory of the earth but for a city. I have a relationship with it just like one of my friends. Sure the city's a little expensive relative to other places, apartments are small, and a lot of its character is changing now with chain stores moving in on the Westside. I've always thought of the added expense of living in NYC as a surcharge to an amusement park. I don't feel like I could get the same high anywhere else in the US. I've lived in a couple of cool places like San Francisco and Seatle, and driven across the country three times and seen some great stuff. My theory is that apartments in NYC are really just bedrooms and all of NYC is your living room. It's a pretty big play space.
